December Doll Tag

I'm back today with another tag I made for a secret friend using a Julie Nutting doll.  When I think of Christmas, I think of Christmas Trees, glitter and dressing up for parties and church.  This tag includes all these items.  I used red Stickles on the Christmas Tree garland and her shoes.  I used Journey Glaze from Fun Stampers Journey on the ornaments on the tree and the polka dots on her dress.  Enjoy!

Angel Wings Thank You

Today I want to share a very special thank you I made for some very special people.
My mom had another knee replacement surgery on November 14th.  After the crazy experience we had with the first knee at rehab, we were not sure what would happen this time.  Let me just say that this time was not like the last.  My mom was taken care of very well and with dignity.  She was so much happier and it showed when I went to visit.
As a thank you to the people at the rehab center, I made them each pair of angel wings with a special note on the back.
I used gold shimmer paper and embossed with a lacey embossing folder.  I then distressed the outsides of the pieces with Hazelnut Blend Ink from Fun Stampers Journey.  After I had assembled the whole thing, I used a mixture of Journey Glaze and water and sprayed the whole top and sprinkled glitter over it.  These were fun to make and the employees loved them. I even made one cry.  It makes my heart leap with joy when I can share my passion for paper.

November Doll Tag

Today's post is another tag that I made for a friend in my secret friend event in ScrappinLadyz.  This tag was fun to make.  I knew I wanted to make the Julie Nutting doll into a scarecrow for November, because when I think of November, I think of the first Thanksgiving.  This also reminds me of farming, growing vegetables and the Indians teaching the Pilgrims how to farm.  I also think of all the blessings in my life in the month of November.
I used the Fun Stampers stamp set "Give Thanks" SS-0041 for the leaves at the bottom.  I also tried my hand at Copic coloring the pumpkin.  This tag screams harvest.  I hope she likes it.

October Doll Tag

Today, I want to share with you a tag I made for a friend.  I am participating in a secret friend event in my  ScrappinLadyz group and we are encouraged to only make things for our secret friend's this time around.  I decided early on that I would make a Julie Nutting doll tag for each month. My friend loves steampunk, so I created this steampunk Halloween doll tag for her.  Enjoy!

Baseball Banner

Today I have another banner to share with you.  This was a fun project.  I cut out the white circles for behind the letters and then with a red marker, I drew in the baseball stitch lines.  The baseball players at each end of the banner were cut with the "Create a Friend" Cricut cartridge.

I finished it off, by tying the pieces together with baseball ribbon.  He just loved his banner!  Enjoy!

Apple Week Banner

Today I want to share with you a banner I made for a dear friend that every year, goes to Bakersfield to pick apples with her daughter and family.  We had been out shopping at our local scrapbook shop one day and she saw a banner just like this one.  She asked me if I could make one like it and I said yes.  After we found the apple paper she liked, I cut the apples with the Accu-cut die and Red card stock.  To make the banner hang well and be more durable, I always put a piece of chipboard between the pieces of card stock.
I ended up having to cut the red pieces for the letters because the Cricut cartridge that I used for the font would not cut the right proportion.
In the end, she loved it and that is all that matters!  Enjoy!

Altered Bottle Swap

A project I was a little nervous to do was a bottle for an altered bottle swap I participated in.  I did a little research online and I was ready to go.
The first step was to clean the bottle and make sure that it was good and dry.  For this project I used a Frappuccino bottle from Starbucks.  I liked the shape of the bottle and thought it would make a great vase.
Next, I covered the bottle with pieces of masking tape.   After making sure the bottle was good and covered, I took the Hazelnut Blend stamp pad from Fun Stampers Journey, directly to the bottle and covered the bottle with the ink.  Here is what it looked like after this step:
Adding some Prima flowers, resin pieces, ribbon, Fun Stampers Journey, Journey Twine and some love and my altered bottle was finished.  Here is the finished project.   Enjoy!  I know the person that received it was very happy!

Halloween Treat Holder for Grand Event

A fun project to create was my Halloween treat holder.  I was to use a die that we sell, creatively.  I used the pocket die (DI-0003) in Rock Candy Cardstock (CS-0031).  I then trimmed one side of the die to match the other side, and folded it into a triangle shape.  I then made a bottom and attached it to the bottom.  Tada!  A tombstone treat holder!  Enjoy!
Other Supplies:
Cardstock: Butter Cream (CS-0006)
Ink: Black Licorice (IP-0041)
Journey Glaze (AD-0002 or AD-0003), Journey Sparkle Dust (AC-0013)

Thanksgiving Trade for Grand Event

Today, I am sharing another trade I did for our Grand Event.  For this pocket card, I tried something new.  Using our Doily Blooms stamp (SS-0031), I created the pumpkin at the bottom of the card.  I stamped the second biggest doily in Tangerine Fusion (IP-0005), three times.  I then cut out the middle part of the doilies.  Using different doily, I stamped in Lemon Grass ink (IP-0022), I cut one of the "petals" out to be used as the leaf.  A piece of Hazelnut Blend Cardstock (CS-0013), rolled up, is the stem.  Enjoy!
The other supplies I used were:
Cardstock: Oatmeal Cookie (CS-0023), Butter Cream (CS-0006)
Ink: Oatmeal Cookie (IP-0011), Orange Creamsicle (IP-0015), Hazelnut Blend (IP-0012)
Stamp Set: Give Thanks (SS-0041)
Journey Twine (AC-0005), Journey Glaze (AD-0003 or AD-0002), Journey Sparkle Dust (AC-0013)

Masculine Card for the Grand Event

This was probably my most favorite trade to create.  The requirements were to make a masculine card using a technique.  When asked to use a technique, I always try a new technique.  The technique I used on this card was faux canvas on the image pieces.
Using Journey Glaze, scribble a little glaze on the piece of paper.  Then take a toothbrush and brush it across the whole piece, going in one direction.  Repeat this process, going in the perpendicular direction.  That's how easy it is.  The toothbrush puts the strokes of a canvas and makes a great look.  Enjoy!

Cardstock: Blue Lagoon (CS-0004), Hazelnut Blend (CS-0013), Lemon Grass (CS-0019) and Butter Cream (CS-0006).
Ink: Blue Lagoon (IP-0002), Hazelnut Blend (IP-0012) and Black Licorice (IP-0041)
Journey Twine (AC-0005)

FooFoo Card trade for Grand Event

When I think of FooFoo I think of lots go girly colors with lots of fibers and details.  My card for another trade at the Grand Event for Fun Stampers Journey was no exceptions.
Here is what I used to make this beautiful card.  I used Whip Cream (CS-0040) cardstock for the base of the card and the top layer.  The next layers were made with Pretty Amethyst (CS-0028) and Beach Breeze (CS-0001) cardstock.  I used the Script Background stamp (SS-0069) for the top layer, stamped in Pretty Amethyst ink (IP-0018).  The tea cup and tea pot are from the Tea Time set (SS-0080) and stamped in Black Licorice ink (IP-0041).  I colored the images with colored pencils and then added Journey Glaze (AD-0003 or AD-0002) and Journey Sparkle Dust (AC-0013).  Adding a doily, ribbon, lace and some flowers and the card is a FooFoo card for a beautiful friend!  Enjoy!

Christmas Pocket Card Trade from the Grand Event

Today I want to share another trade I did for our Fun Stampers Journey Grand Event.  The trade was a Christmas pocket card.  I used the pocket die (DI-0003) in Fresh Forest (CS-0011).  I then cut cards to fit into the pockets out of Pomegranate Splash (CS-0027) and Buttercream (CS-0006) paper.  The holly and berries at the top and the candle centerpiece are from the Christmas Melody (SS-0023) and are stamped in Fresh Forest ink (IP-0013).  The words "Merry Christmas" are from Many Wishes (SS-0057).  Adding some coloring with my copics,  glitter paper, holly pattern paper, Journey Glaze and a glitter red tulle bow and the card is complete.
Enjoy!

Grand Event recap

Last weekend was the Grand Event for Fun Stampers Journey!  Wow is all I can say.  There was lots of demos, learning, laughs, friendships made and fun!  My mind is still swimming with the information I received and the ideas that were given.
One of the many highlights from the event was the trades.  I participated in all of the trades.  My favorite trade was the Gift Tag trade.  I had fun making my trade and got lots of great comments.  Here is what my trade was:
I used Whip Cream, Watermelon Fusion and Sweet Berry card stock from Fun Stampers Journey.  I cut  1 inch strips from each of the colors.  I then stapled the three stripes together to make the petals.  I then used large glue dots on a small circle of paper to put the flower together.  A banner and some flowers finished it off.  Enjoy!

Book Club Bookmark

I am a part of a great group of book club ladies.  We meet each month, or every other month to discuss a book that one of the members has chosen.  This month was mom's choice and we read "The Light Between Ocrans" by M.L. Stedman.  She asked me to make some bookmarks as a small gift to give to the ladies.  I chose to do a corner bookmark.

The base of the bookmark is a 3 inch corner of an envelope.  I then added some patterned paper on top, after I distressed the edges.  I used the sailboat from the stamp set "Lifesaver" from Fun Stampers Journey.  Enjoy!

Another Copic Class!

I have to share a new coloring project I did.  My friend, Nikki Turnour at Nikki's Creative Nook, taught another wonderful Copic class last Saturday.  When I first saw the card, I thought there was no way I could do that.  I am happy to announce, that I was able to do it and I am amazed!  It came out really good too.  The stamp is from La La Land, one of my favorite stamps for coloring.

Santa Clara Scrapbook Expo

Wow, what a weekend I had this past weekend.  I got to travel with the Journey Crew to the Santa Clara Scrapbook Expo.  What a great experience.  My job for the weekend was to teach a make and take featuring Richard Garay's Celebrations Line from Spellbinders.  Here is what the make it take was.
The crafters that stopped by were so impressed by the make and take, that when the weekend was over I had more than 60 people visit my table.  I had so much fun teaching this make and take.  I also got to meet some really neat people.
I noticed that there were a lot of kids with their families visiting and many of them stopped at my table.  Even kids like to craft!  This little girl named Mia was such a cutie.  She did such a good job with little to no help from her mom or me.
These two ladies were a joy to meet.  They are mute, but we were able to communicate pretty well.  They were so funny also!  One of the ladies asked Rose for a favor and when Rose came through, she was so appreciative.  She was all smiles.
It amazes me the amount of work it takes to set up each and every show.  Here is the before.
And in only a few hours, it looks like this.
It was an amazing weekend full of hard work, great fellowship, and great opportunities to meet new people and share my passion for papercrafting.  If you would like more information on Richard's product go to www.richardgaray.com or www.Spellbinders.com. Enjoy!

Mini Album with Frank Garcia

This past weekend I was given the greatest opportunity to take a class with the amazing designer Frank Garcia from Prima!  I am amazed by the book I was bake to accomplish.  Let me share with you the process.

When I sat down at my area, I was greeted by a big brown paper bag.  This is all the goodies that were inside.  Lots of great paper, flowers, ATC cards, Journaling cards, metal findings, etc.  The paper is from Frank's new line called Cartographer.
Next, using chipboard and kraft paper we constructed the book itself.
Then the magic began.

And the finished product!

I loved the final project.  I learned a lot and had fun creating this amazing mini album.  Thank you Frank for the great class and sharing your talent with our group!

July Kit of the Month Card #3

Oh today's card is so cute.  You are going to love it!
I love the little owl with the heart on his belly!  These two owls look like friends and they are saying hello to another friend!  I love it!  A few details:  The bottom Blue Lagoon piece is crimped.  The flower is inked with two colors to give the stem and the flower two different colors.  Lastly, I sponged the top of the white piece with Beach Breeze ink to give the idea of a sky!  Enjoy!

July Kit of the Month #2

Today I want to share another beautiful card made with the Fun Stampers Journey card from the July Kit of the Month.
I love the cute flowers.  It is so easy to make the flowers now that we sell a die that cuts 16 out at one time.  So cool.  Now I don't have to punch out each flower.  Interested in getting your own die, visit my replicated site at www.funstampersjourney.com/21. Enjoy!
