Jolly Waterfall Card

Today I have another card I created for the Los Angeles County Fair DIY Design Studio, which starts September 7th.
This card is created using the waterfall technique.  Here is a tutorial I found on Pinterest on the engineering of the card it self.  The only difference, is you will attach the characters on the side of the image and not the top.
I used Candy Apple Cardstock for the base.  I made layers with  a piece of Whip Cream Cardstock and then a piece of Winter Fresh Prints.  The waterfall is created with Candy Apple Cardstock and then I matted the characters on Kiwi Slice Cardstock.
The place that you pull on, I die cut a piece of holly and bow with Candy Apple Cardstock and Kiwi Slice Cardstock from the Journey Bloom Holiday Set Die.
I used Black Licorice Ink to stamp the four Jolly Friends characters on Whip Cream Cardstock.  I used Copics to color the characters.
I am anxious to know if this card won anything at the fair.  I will find out and make a post soon after September 7th.  So watch for it!  Enjoy!

Stand up Birthday Card

Today I have card I created for an entry in the Los Angeles Fair DIY Design Studio.  This was a fun card to create, so let me show you how I created it.
First off, you will need a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of Beach Ball Cardstock.  Fold this in half, how you would normally fold a tent card.  Then fold one side back, making a "Z" with your card.
To create the piece for the candles, I cut a piece of Sweet Pear Cardstock 2 5/8 x 7 1/4 and fold in half.  Then I cut a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of Whip Cream Cardstock and layered this on the Sweet Pear Cardstock and adhered this piece to the middle of the base piece of Beach Ball Cardstock.  This is the construction of the card.
Now it is time to decorate the card.  I stamped the candle from Another Candle ATS in Watermelon Fusion, Sweet Pear and Beach Ball Ink on Whip Cream Cardstock and fussy cut them.  I stamped the "flame" from the same set in Lemon Drop Ink and fussy cut it out.  I cut the stars using Lemon Drop paper and the Star-Dom die.
I made the banner piece with Sweet Pear Cardstock and stamped "Happy Birthday" from the Sentimental Prints Stamp Set with Beach Ball Ink.
I finished the card off by adding Journey Glaze and Journey Sparkle Dust to the flames and stars.
I look forward to seeing how this card does in the fair.  I will post a Fair Results post soon after September 7th.  So watch out for it!

Summer Journal Swap

Hello fellow crafters!  Today I have a journal to share with you that I created for a swap at ScrappinLadyz.  The theme was summer and the friend I was swapping with loves pink and black.  No brainier for me!  Watermelon on black!  Here is the front of the journal:
First, I covered the journal with Black Licorice Cardstock.  I then cut a piece of Watermelon Fusion to fit in the middle of the book.  Then I cut a piece of Journey Basics Black and White pattern paper to make the cover.  I then stamped the watermelons from the Sweet Slice stamp set, which was part of my July Kit of the Month (The stamp set will not be available to the public until November) on Watermelon Fusion and Limeade Splash Cardstock.  I fussy cut the piece and glued them together.  I then added Journey Glaze to the rind and the seeds.  I used Journey Thread in Whip Cream and placed the slices on the thread.  I then popped these up on the book.  I then glued pink and white flowers to the corners of the slices.  I stamped the sentiments, "oh sweet you" and "smile big" from the same set, with Black Licorice Ink on Whip Cream Cardstock.  I then inked the edges with Limeade Splash Ink.  I added some flowers to the bottom of the book near the watermelon half.
The spine, I hot glued this pretty sequins ribbon that I have had for a long time.
Then, one of the requirements was to put something on every 5th page.  I went above and stamped these cute little ants for Backyard BBQ in Black Licorice Ink on every page.
She loved it and I loved making it for her.  Enjoy!

Marquee Heart Card

Today, I have a fun little card.  I knew I just had to make something using this stamp Richard gave me.  I received this stamp set from Richard Garay at the President's Reception at our Convention in Scottsdale in June.
I love all the signs and displays that I see around town that have the marquee letters that light up.  I even bought one of the DIY Heidi Swapp letters at Michaels and made it.

Ok, so now let me tell you about the card.
The first thing I did was die cut the Journey Circle and piercing element in Black Licorice Cardstock.  I then cut strips of Journey Basics: Black and White paper pack and placed them on the card.  I then stamped the Marquee Shapes heart with Cranberry Bliss Ink on Whip Cream Cardstock.  I then fussy cut the heart out colored the "light" holes with a Q-tip and Lemon Drop Ink.
To make the dots look like light bulbs, I then dropped a drop of Journey Glaze on each circle.  When dry, it gave the feel of little bulbs.
To finish the card, added a few Journey Sequins-Special Celebrations to the card. Enjoy!

Hoo-Ray!

I love this Owl set called Hoo-Ray!   Here is the card I created.
The first thing I did was stamp the scalloped image from the stamp set "Hoo-Ray!" in Watermelon Fusion Ink on Bubble Gum Cardstock.  I fussy cut this out and placed it towards the bottom of the card made of Whip Cream Cardstock.
Then I cut a piece of our Journey Pastel Paper Pack and placed this on the card.  I then cut a Banana Cream Cardstock, cut banners on either and stamped "Hoo-Ray" with Beach Breeze Ink.  Then I stamped on Whip Cream with Hazelnut Blend Ink, the owl and colored it in with a pink colored pencil.  I stamped and fussy cut the flower from the same set with Watermelon Fusion ink on Bubble Gum Cardstock to place on her head.
I finished the card by popping up the owl, adding Journey Glaze to her belly and eyes and placed a few Journey Sequins: Bloom Time.  Enjoy!

Creative Blooms Challenge

Today I have a card for the Creative Blooms Challenge.   As always I did the color challenge and the sketch challenge together.
Here is the sketch challenge:
Here is the color challenge:

Here is the card I created:
This is a very simple card.  I started out by cutting strips of Black Licorice, Pool Play and River Stone Cardstock.  I stamped the Tulip ATS on the strip of Pool Play Cardstock.  I then stamped the the image on River Stone , Lemon Grass, and Whip Cream Cardstock.  I then cut and paper pieced these.  The tulips, I actually colored with a Q-tip using Lemon Drop ink and dragged the color to get the darker at the bottom and lighter on the top.
To finish off the card, I wrapped, Journey Twine- Black Licorice around the Pool Play strip and popped this piece up on the piece of Black Licorice Cardstock.  I stamped everything on the card with Black Licorice Ink.  Enjoy!
I have entered this card in the challenge at Art Impressions Blog also.

National Cupcake and Birthday ATC Swap

Today is National Cupcake Day!  I love cupcakes, so today was a great day to share a cupcake ATC I created.  This month's ATC swap theme was Birthday!  If you know me, I HAD to make a card with a cupcake!
I used the stamp set Yummy and Delicious.  I stamped the outline of the liner in Dark Roast Ink.  I then stamped the liner with Beach Breeze ink.  (To get the lighter color, I first stamped the liner on a clear block and then stamped on the paper.   Why?  Because FSJ inks are a fusion between pigment and dye inks.  You are not able to do "second generation" stamping with them.  This is a way around that.)
I love the technique on the frosting.  Here is how I did it.  I inked up the frosting stamp with Watermelon Fusion ink.  Before stamping, I took the liner stamp and lightly moved over the stamp in a zig zag motion.  This gives the frosting the swirly effect.  Then, just stamp on the paper as usual.  Awesome right?  I thought so too!
Using Beach Breeze Cardstock and Yummy Prints Pattern Paper, I made the base of the ATC.  I then popped up the image.  The cherry on top was stamped with Dark RoastInk and then colored in with a Q-tip using Watermelon Fusion Ink.
I finished the card off by adding a clip (which we do not sell anymore) and a banner that says "Happy Birthday" from the Sentimental Prints Stamp Set.
Now, I think today calls for a cupcake!  Enjoy!

Shine Bright!

Today's card is a result of some research and positive affirmations I have been looking into. Sometimes we need some encouragement along the way.
First, cut the base and layers from Whip Cream and Black Licorice Cardstock.  Then cut three strips of Journey Basic Brights Pattern paper on the left side of the card.  Then, splatter some Silver Silk over the top of the card.
Next, cut a piece of Summer Days Cardstock, stamp the "Shine Bright" from the Star Bright stamp set on this piece using Black Licorice Ink and attach to the card.
Then stamp the stars with Black Licorice and Orange Creamcicle Ink on Whip Cream Cardstock.
I fussy cut these and placed them on the card with pop ups.
I finished the card off by coloring the wooden star button with Silver Silk , threaded Black Licorice Journey Twine, tie a bow and attach the button to the card.  Enjoy!

Ethel and Fred Snowman

I would like to introduce you to Ethel and Fred Snowman.  These are the two newest snowman ATS's that Fun Stampers has in the Holiday Catalog.  You can see the whole Holiday Catalog here.   Here is the card I created:
When I saw these two stamps, Ethel Winter and Winter Fred, I knew that they had to be on a card together!  I paper pieced each of them using Bubble Gum, Orange Creamcicle, Kiwi Slice, Oatmeal Cookie and Whip Cream Cardstock.  I stamped them all in Dark Roast ink.
Before putting them together, I used a sponge and Beach Breeze Ink to create the shadow on them.  I then took some Whip Cream Cardstock and ripped it to make the snow.
I finished off the card by using Journey Sparkle Dust and Journey Glaze to give them the snow effect.  Enjoy!
Other supplies used:
Pool Play Cardstock
Winter Fresh Prints
Journey Sequins-Pink World for Ethel's buttons
Snowflake Elements
Journey Thread- Whip Cream
Black and White Buttons
I am entering this card in the following challenges:

To my deer friends...

Today I have a fun card to celebrate the nature all around us.
I just love this little deer from the Oh Deer! stamp set.  I stamped the deer on Whip Cream Cardstock with Hazelnut Blend Ink and then stamped it again a little to the right with Oatmeal Cookie Ink.  I then fussy cut the deer and layered it on top of the circle I cut with the Journey Circles Die and stamped with the tree from the same set in Kiwi Slice Ink.  It is hard to see in the picture, but the deer has Journey Glaze over the top.
I used a piece of pattern paper from the Journey Basic Brights Paper Pack as the base of my card.
I cut and pierced at the same time the large circle with the Journey Circles Die and stamped this piece with the small branch, which is in the same set, with Limeade Splash ink.
Adding a small strip of Summer Days cardstock and a banner piece of Oatmeal Cookie Cardstock, stamped with Hazelnut Blend Ink, I created this card to send to a "deer" friend for encouragement.

Paris on my mind!

Today, I have another card to celebrate my dream vacation to Paris!  This card is again using the Paris Vintage collection from Fun Stampers Journey.  Here's how I made this card.
Using a different piece of the Paris Vintage pattern paper in the collection, I placed this on the Bubble Gum piece of Cardstock base.  I then took a white paper doily and cut if in half to place at the top of my card.  Using River Stone Ink, I distressed the whole card and doily.Next, I took a piece of Butter Cream Cardstock and stamped the Eiffel Tower from the Love Paris stamp set using Rock Candy Ink Pad.  I then used the Script Background stamp and Bubble Gum Ink, to stamp a background on this piece. Before placing this piece on the card, I cut a banner cut in the bottom of the piece.
I then cut a strip of the postage stamps also found in the Paris Vintage Paper Pack and cut a banner cut int he bottom.  I wrapped a piece of Whip Cream Thread around the card and tied a knot at the top.  Lastly, I threaded a Clear Blooms Accent flower and a heart button onto the thread and tied a bow.  To finish the card off, I added the "Missing You" sentiment from the Sentimental Prints using Rock Candy Ink.  Enjoy!

Paris is Always a Good Idea

When I think of a dream vacation, I think of traveling to Paris.  This dream vacation has been on my mind lately.  I don't know why, but I knew I could I had to create a Paris themed card.
Fun Stampers Journey has a great new collection called Paris Vintage.  For this card I used the  saying, "Paris is always a good idea" from the Going Places stamp set from the Going Places collection and the Eiffel Tower from the Love Paris stamp set from the Paris Vintage Collection.  In the collection, there is a paper pack that has a great assortment of papers to add to the Paris theme and I inked around the edges of the paper with River Stone Ink and attached this to  the base of my card.
I then stamped the Eiffel Tower in Rock Candy on the Butter Cream Cardstock.  Taking my Oatmeal Cookie Ink pad, I stamped the Postage Stamp randomly on the Butter Cream Cardstock. and added this to the card.
Before adding anything else, I used Bubble Gum and Silver Silks to the whole card, by tapping it with my finger.
I then added a strip of Bubble Gum Cardstock, distressed with River Stone Ink.  Next I took the small heart button from the Journey Color Buttons II and threaded the button with Journey Twine in Natural and placed the button at the top of the Bubble Gum strip.
With foam pop ups, I added the sentiment.  The last finishing touch was to add the Pearls to the bottom of the image.
"Paris is always a good idea", even if it is only in my dreams right now.  Enjoy!

Life is Beautiful!

Today's card, I am so in love with.  I love the colors the most.  This card is a great card to use up those scraps of paper.  I did the card with stamped stripes, but you could easily do the same layout using scrap pattern paper as well.
Using the Linked Dots Background Stamp, I stamped a bunch of scrap pieces of Pretty Amethyst, Bubble Gum and Pineapple Smoothie cardstock.  I then cut the scraps into different lengths and cut the ends like banners.
I then cut a piece of Whip Cream Cardstock, put adhesive on the back and then attached the ends of the banner pieces to the bottom.  I then attached Whip Cream Thread and a button from the Journey Color Buttons II to finish off the card.
Life is what you make it and I hope yours is beautiful also!

Summer Doll Tag

The last Julie Nutting tag I made for my secret friend was for August!  This is the tag I created using a Julie Nutting doll stamp.
The idea I had for August was to celebrate summer before it was over.  Summer to me is palm trees and summer dresses.  I included a silk palm leaf behind the doll.  Wearing a strapless dress, she is on her way to the beach to RELAX!  Enjoy!

August Calendar

Today, I would like to share the calendar I created for August.
When I think of August and summer, I think about BBQ's.  My family and I try to get together at least once a month for a BBQ.  In the summer, we BBQ a lot.  A BBQ is a great time of gathering and sharing a meal as well as conversation.
When creating this calendar, I used the stamp Backyard BBQ set and stamped the BBQ with Black Licorice Ink Pad on Rock Candy Cardstock .  After I stamped it, I cut it out and then cut the lid away from the bottom part.  I then placed it on my paper in the open position using my pop up adhesive.
Speaking about BBQ's, we are on our way now to one.  Have a great summer day!  Enjoy!
