9/8/18

This is a blog hop featuring projects inspired by our family tree and our Grandparents in honor of National Grandparents Day.
National Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 9th.
This is a weekend hop, but you have until Monday at midnight to finish hopping.
Lorby's World is the blog to start at and she is offering a special prize to one lucky person. All you have to do is hop through all the participants in the blog hop and leave a comment on each of the their blogs. Lorby's World will pick a winner to be announced on Wednesday, September 12th.
Welcome! You should have come from Jearise Havenga's blog.
Here is my project:

My scrapbook pages were created with everything I had on hand.  I brought many different items into the layout.

I had fun looking through some old pictures of me and the many people that have shaped my life in one way or another.  The trees represent the two sides of my family; my mom's side and my dad's side.   I also wanted to include different stages of my life to include the different ages that I had their love and support.

Here is a closer look at one of the pages:

The hearts on the tree are attached with foam squares to add dimension.  The hearts also have the name of my family members.
I hope you have found some inspiration.
Thank you for joining us today and please continue on to Sandy Lopez's blog.

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today I want to share with you a card I created for my last card class.

I have some newbies in my classes, so I thought I would take it back to basics and teach them about masking and the effect it has.

We did this masking technique with the trees on the background.

If you have never done masking before, it is really quite easy.  Take the image you want to mask and stamp it on a post it note.  Cut this image out, cutting as close as you can to the image.  Stamp your first image on your project and then place the post it note image over the top and then stamp the other image over it.   As you can see in the picture, you get the effect of two rows of trees and not just one.

I hope you will try it.

Supplies Used:
Stamp: Deer Friends
Paper: Oatmeal Cookie Cardstock, Beach Breeze Cardstock, Lemon Grass Cardstock, Whip Cream Cardstock
Ink: Dark Roast
Accessories: Lemon Grass Twine
Colored with Color Burst Pencils

Hello Crafty Friends,

I hope you had a great Labor Day!  I am not a summer person, so Labor Day is always a day I look forward to because it means that summer is almost over!

Today, I want to share a card I created to celebrate summer.  I even had a chance to go on a boat this summer, so even better.

I created a shaker for the focal point of this card.  It is really quite easy to create a shaker card.

Here is the "sandwich":
1. Cardstock
2. Clear View Sheet
3. Foam Squares (create a wall, where nothing will be able to fall out)
4. Put your "sparkles" inside.
5. Cardstock

It's that easy.  You just have to decide what shape and sparkles you want to use.

I hope you will try one on your own.

Supplies Used:
Stamp: The Bright Side
Paper: Pool Play Cardstock, River Stone Cardstock, Whip Cream Cardstock, Clear View Sheets Playful Prints
Dies: Journey Circles
Ink: Black Licorice
Accessories:  Journey Sequins-Blue Skies, Beach Ball Satin Ribbon, Licorice Twist Twine,
Colored with Color Burst Pencils

Hello Crafty Friends,

I am in disbelief that it is September.  I went back to work at the end of August, and life got crazy.  But it is a new month and new goals and ideas.

First, let me share with you the monthly promotions for Fun Stampers Journey this month.

If that wasn;t enough, we are having an incredible sale on all cardstock and ink pads.  Including the new color family, The Good Life.

Lots to for me to be happy about, but my bank account is not going to be very happy with me!

I hope you will take advantage of these great promotions.

Hello Crafty Friends,

Summer has come to an end for me this week.  I went back to work.  I can't forget the wonderful memories I had this summer.  One of the best things that happened was going to Sea World.  I hadn't been there since I was in 4th or 5th grade.

Today's card is to celebrate this memory and also hopes and prayers going to a few of my friends that are struggling with their health right now.

To stamp the whale, I inked the top of the whale with Catalina Splash ink and the bottom with Denim Days ink.

I distressed the "waves" with Whip Cream Ink.  I also outlined the words with Journey Glaze.

Supplies Used:
Stamp: Get Whale
Paper: Whip Cream Cardstock, Pool Play Cardstock, Beach Ball Cardstock, Catalina Splash Cardstock, Denim Days Cardstock
Ink: Denim Days, Catalina Splash, Whip Cream
Tools: Corner Rounder
Accessories: Wiggle Eyes, Journey Glaze
