Julie Nutting Beach Tag

Hello, thanks for stopping by.  Today I want to share with you a tag I made for a retreat I attended last weekend.
Each year, I group of my "crafty" friends get together and go on a retreat.  Each year we do a swap using Julie Nutting dolls on tags.  Here is the tag I created.
Since it so close to summer, I thought I would create a doll visiting the beach.
It is hard to see in the picture, but I created clouds on the Beach Ball blue cardstock for the sky.  I made a template out a scrap piece of cardstock and then using Whip Cream Ink, I sponged around the template to create the clouds.
I think she came out pretty cute.  Enjoy!

Summer Doll Tag

The last Julie Nutting tag I made for my secret friend was for August!  This is the tag I created using a Julie Nutting doll stamp.
The idea I had for August was to celebrate summer before it was over.  Summer to me is palm trees and summer dresses.  I included a silk palm leaf behind the doll.  Wearing a strapless dress, she is on her way to the beach to RELAX!  Enjoy!

July Julie Nutting Tag

With July almost over, I can't believe I never posted my Julie Nutting tag for July.
This was my most favorite of the tags I made for my secret friend.  I think I love it so much because it is patriotic and country.  I love country music and BBQ's in the summer.  They are also so "American" and what a great month to showcase them.  Enjoy!

May Doll Tag

Today I have the next installment in my doll tags I made for my secret friend.  When I think of May, I think of flowers.  This was my theme for the tag.
I wanted to tag to look like a beautiful spring day where I was walking throught a field of flowers.  I love the way it came out.
Enjoy!

April Doll Tag

April Showers.......
When I think of April, I think of the saying "April showers bring May flowers".  So here is the doll tag I made for my secret friend for the month of April.
The chick with the umbrella is from Fun Stampers Journey as well as the little paper boat at the bottom.  I made the raindrops by hand using Journey Glaze, also from Fun Stampers Journey.  Enjoy!

March Tag using Julie Nutting Doll

This was a tag I made for me secret friend, to be displayed during the month of March.  I know it's not very "March", but I really loved this paper, the glittered butterflies and the color combinations.  Enjoy!

Julie Nutting Doll Bonus Challenge

As a bonus challenge at Mema's Crafts, we were asked to paper piece a Julie Nutting doll.  The only requirements were to paper piece the doll.  I have done this many times, which if you go back and see my past posts, and there will be future ones, I am pretty familiar with paper piecing.  I love to paper piece the dolls and wouldn't think to do them any other way.
Here is the doll "Betty" I was given to work with.  (I was excited to receive her because I didn't have her.)

I used her as the embellishment for a gift bag that I can use to give a gift for a friend.  I used my favorite paper line, My Mind's Eye- Lost and Found for her dress.  I used some Michael's paper for the background, lace, paper flowers, pearls and Natural Journey Twine to finish off the bag.
Here is a close up picture of just the doll.

If you like this project, please vote for me at www.http://memascrafts.blogspot.com/p/bonus-challenge.html  Enjoy!

February Doll Tag

February is all about Valentine's Day, so I made this Julie Nutting doll tag to reflect that.  I used the Lost and Found collection from My Mind's Eye.  I love this collection.  I even used the same collection on the cigar box that I decorated (see post dated 7/22/14).  Enjoy!

Julie Nutting Dollhouse

Today I have my #3 project for my 157 projects in 2015.  I have been making doll tags for each of the months of the year for my secret friend.  I wanted her to have a place to keep all the dolls, so I made a dollhouse for her.
Inside the dollhouse, I created 6 pages, with a pocket on each side, where she can tuck the dolls in.
I had fun creating the dollhouse using the Julie Nutting dollhouse chipboard album.  She loved it!  I will share the rest of the dolls I made for her in the future.  Enjoy!

January Doll Tag and 157 projects in 2015

I have another Julie Nutting Doll tag for you today that I made for my secret friend.  I love snowmen, so I had to to make sure there was a snowman on the tag.  January is all about snow and snowmen right?  If you notice also, I took this picture with my collection of snowmen.  I told you I love snowmen and this isn't all of them.
Also, this tag is my project #1 for my new group challenge I am participating in.  We are a group of crafters that are trying to complete 157 projects in 2015.  Through the group we are held accountable and earn badges based on the number of projects that we complete.  I have one done, but I have 156 more to go!  What are you challenging yourself with this new year?

December Doll Tag

I'm back today with another tag I made for a secret friend using a Julie Nutting doll.  When I think of Christmas, I think of Christmas Trees, glitter and dressing up for parties and church.  This tag includes all these items.  I used red Stickles on the Christmas Tree garland and her shoes.  I used Journey Glaze from Fun Stampers Journey on the ornaments on the tree and the polka dots on her dress.  Enjoy!

November Doll Tag

Today's post is another tag that I made for a friend in my secret friend event in ScrappinLadyz.  This tag was fun to make.  I knew I wanted to make the Julie Nutting doll into a scarecrow for November, because when I think of November, I think of the first Thanksgiving.  This also reminds me of farming, growing vegetables and the Indians teaching the Pilgrims how to farm.  I also think of all the blessings in my life in the month of November.
I used the Fun Stampers stamp set "Give Thanks" SS-0041 for the leaves at the bottom.  I also tried my hand at Copic coloring the pumpkin.  This tag screams harvest.  I hope she likes it.

October Doll Tag

Today, I want to share with you a tag I made for a friend.  I am participating in a secret friend event in my  ScrappinLadyz group and we are encouraged to only make things for our secret friend's this time around.  I decided early on that I would make a Julie Nutting doll tag for each month. My friend loves steampunk, so I created this steampunk Halloween doll tag for her.  Enjoy!

Julie Nutting Tag

I was in need of some R & R so some of my crafting friends and I went to a scrap retreat.  I was so excited just to get away and get some scrapbooking done.  As part of our weekend, everyone made 12 tags using Julie Nutting stamps.  Then when we got there we all traded and we came home with 11 other tags.  Here is the tag that I made:
I wanted to make a sailor and I did.  I hope you enjoy!

Long time no blog

Can you believe that half of the year is over?  I have been busy with a few projects.  Let me show you....

I did an open house at my friend's house and these were the three projects we made.  All product and stamps are from Fun Stamper's Journey!
Then I got an order for "Beatles" notecards.  This is what I came up with after not finding anything in the way of paper in the scrapbooking world.  The music stamp is from Fun Stamper's Journey.  The pictures are from Google.

Then in June, I got to take a class with Julie Nutting and got to meet the talent herself.  She is amazing. She created the dolls that are on the tags above.  She draws them and then has stamps made for them.  They are fun and take you back to paper dolls when you were little.

Well, that's a little of what I have been doing.  Till next time....
